Mackintosh library in 2014 - before the fire

Mackintosh GSA Building will be restored.

The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterpiece will be restored after the two destructive fires (June 2018 and May 2014).

The costs of rebuilding the GSA after the second fire is estimated at more than £100 million.

The interior of the school was totally destroyed including the famous library of the school.

In the early modernism where Mackintosh’s works belong, a building is composed of a wide range of craftsmanship, which makes us consider how much Architecture has become specialized and standardized through industrialization.
